in ninety seconds.

Seven tricks the supplement aisle runs on. Learn them once and you will never be sold a pouch of maltodextrin again. Including ours, if we ever earn it.

The seven

What the label
is hiding.

01

The proprietary blend

  • A blend name with one combined weight beside it
  • The weight tells you nothing about how much of the expensive part is in there
  • Which means you cannot compare the pouch to anything else on the shelf
02

Fairy dusting

  • The famous ingredient sits near the very end of the list
  • Ingredients run in descending order by weight, so it is there in traces
  • You get the claim printed on the front and none of the dose the study used
03

The serving stretch

  • Thirty servings out of a tub that looks too small for thirty
  • Divide net weight by servings and you find the scoop was shrunk
  • Price per serving is the number brands quote, and it is the easiest one to bend
04

Filler at the top

  • Maltodextrin, rice flour or dextrose in the first three ingredients
  • Most of what you are holding is cheap bulk by weight
  • You are paying a greens powder price for starch
05

Extract without a ratio

  • The word extract appears with no percentage and no ratio
  • A standardised extract and a bag of dried leaf can carry the same word
  • The gap between them runs to tenfold on the active compound
06

Borrowed authority

  • The certificate covers the facility rather than the batch in your hand
  • A clean facility audit says nothing about the powder you bought
  • Ask for the report carrying your batch number and see what comes back
07

The vanishing sweetener

  • No added sugar on the front, sucralose or a sugar alcohol on the back
  • The claim is true and it is also why the powder tastes like a dessert
  • Sugar alcohols in particular are worth knowing about before your gut finds out

All seven, once

  • Most labels run three or four of these
  • None of them are illegal
  • All of them are avoidable

Take it with you

The seven, on one page.

Everything above stays free to read. If you would rather have the checklist in your hand at the shop, we will send it as a single page you can keep on your phone.

One email with the checklist. Nothing else unless you ask.

Turn it on us

Where we
would fail.

  • We pass all seven. That is the entire reason the test is on this page
  • We still hold the full roster back until the batch opens, and we will not publish per-ingredient weights even then
  • That is a formulation decision, not a hiding place. Naming every gram invites a copy of the formula
  • If that matters more to you than the naming, we are not the right pouch, and you now know how to find a better one
